Ancon Construction was established in 1975 by Andrew W. Frech as a commercial, industrial design-and-build general contractor. We have continuously operated under the Ancon name and structure since our inception.
On June 1, 2000, Ancon became a 100% employee-owned company. All office and field employees, including field supervisors and our non-union concrete, carpentry, and steel craftsmen, are Ancon shareholders. Employee stock ownership enables Ancon to retain the very best employees and instills pride in ownership. The average length of employment of our field force is 16 years.
Benefits to the owner include: better-trained personnel and craftsmanship, clearer communications, fewer change orders, safer work sites and higher productivity. Most importantly, Ancon undertakes every project with a team attitude. We expect the architect, the owner and Ancon to work together toward the successful completion of the project goals.
Ancon’s drug-free workplace policy includes pre-employment, random, and post-accident drug testing. We have also administered other project-specific policies, such as a smoke-free job site at Abbott Laboratories.
Historically, 95% of Ancon projects are for private organizations. Consequently, our culture has always been one of working as a team to provide creative solutions, options and value engineering on each and every project, whether a $100,000 remodel or a $12,000,000 office building.
Since the year 2000, 156 of 212 major projects have been negotiated General Construction or Construction Management contracts, over 80% of our dollar volume. In nearly every case, Ancon’s philosophy is to take an active involvement in the pre-construction process and offer alternatives and options to the design and construction.
Ancon’s Dun & Bradstreet rating for financial strength and credit worthiness is 3A-1; we are bondable to approximately $20 million on a single project.
