Ancon Construction and LaGrange County REMC Dedicate New Facility

GOSHEN, Ind. – Goshen-based company Ancon Construction recently completed work on a renovation for the LaGrange County REMC. A dedication ceremony took place Feb. 7 and celebrated the opening of the combination offices and warehouse, totaling 73,750 square feet.
“We were operating out of two locations and had outgrown both of them,” explained Sherryl Rhinesmith, REMC member services manager. “Our offices had been in downtown LaGrange since the early 1940s. In the mid-1970s, outside operations were moved to a building east of LaGrange where the inventory, trucks and equipment were housed.”
Because of the expanding business at the company—a cooperative that distributes electricity to nearly 7,000 households—the new building was purchased by REMC and then renovated by Ancon Construction.
“Ancon was a pleasure to work with. We’re glad we selected them to work with us on this project,” Rhinesmith said. “The new facility provides more parking, easier handicap accessibility and improved security. The improved warehouse provides a more efficient way of picking up materials. And since all employees are now under one roof, it’s really improved company morale.”
General manager Mark Leu said the move is just what the company was looking for. “The additional square footage gave us some much-needed room,” he stated. “This was a positive move that will improve working efficiencies and enable us to provide great service to our members for many years to come.”
