Kemner-Iott and Ancon Construction Break Ground for New Office

Posted: 08/25/2008

CASSOPOLIS, Mich. – A groundbreaking was recently held for a new, larger office for Kemner-Iott Agency of Cass County, to be built by Goshen-based Ancon Construction. That branch of the employee-owned insurance company currently resides in Jones Bank building, which it has outgrown, according to agency representative Joy Smith.
“With the recent addition of our 14th employee, this branch has outgrown its current office space,” she said. “We added on and remodeled six years ago, and we’ve had a great experience there, but now we have nowhere else to expand.”
Kemner-Iott has three offices in Michigan. This new building will emulate its headquarters in Adrian, with a “practical yet welcoming” office environment where visitors can be comfortable while they sit with the staff, workspaces that offer privacy for clients, and plenty of windows to let in outside light that complements interior lighting.
“Our employees have not had a designated break room, so the lower level of our new facility will feature an area with a kitchen and dining tables,” Smith explained. “And to support our corporate wellness initiative, we’re excited to include a workout room with a shower for those wanting to exercise before or after work. We’re excited to have Ancon make this design into reality for us.”
In addition, the facility will house meeting space for groups the agency is involved with, such as the area home builders association and Chambers of Commerce, in order to meet the company’s responsibility to be “a good corporate citizen.”
The office building is expected to be completed early next year.
