GOSHEN, Ind. - The Benton Township Fire Station, located at 68073 U.S. 33 in Goshen, will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Aug. 12 from 2-4 p.m. for its new 3,438-square-foot addition built by Ancon Construction.
“We just needed more room,” stated Dick Longcor, trustee on the fire department’s board. “We had six trucks all crammed in there, and didn’t have any office space to speak of. We had no place to hold meetings except the old kitchen. We’ve been using this building as it is for 40 years.” Today, the department consists of about 25 volunteer firemen.
Ancon added two parking bays, a truck wash bay, two offices, a restroom, a small kitchenette and a meeting room. According to Longcor, the board is happy with Ancon’s work. “If we have construction projects come up in the future, we’d absolutely use Ancon,” he said.
The ribbon-cutting will be casual and low-key “for anybody who wants to come,” said Longcor. “We want the people of the community to be able to come in and see what the new addition looks like.”
