St. Paul’s – Bremen Holds Dedication Service for New Facility

St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and School recently held a dedication service in celebration of the new multipurpose complex at the church and school campus in Bremen.  September 30th marked the completion of the project which was designed and built by Ancon Construction.  The congregation members took part in the construction by building the stage, installing the wood gym floor, and assembling athletic equipment.  The two story, 12,000 sq.ft. building contains a lobby atrium, gymnasium court, stage, restrooms, locker rooms, kitchen, and open studio space.  “The project, containing several spaces that overlap each other, demonstrates how a hybrid building can be used for infinite programming uses,” Ancon explained.  The use of translucent wall panels, both on the north and south walls of the building, allow adequate day lighting into the building which achieves lighting levels without the use of artificial lighting.  The building is also a 3D learning textbook – incorporating several architectural elements that serve as educational and religious teaching tools.  “The floor the students walk on a day to day basis can be used for math lessons,”  explained Ancon Designer Matthew VanSoest.  Floor tile patterns are grouped in colors to assist student’s learning in measuring, counting, and the Pythagorean Theorem.
