ANCON Construction has enjoyed a long standing partnership with Simon Properties owned and managed University Park Mall on Grape Road in Mishawaka, IN.
This year they are kicking up the holiday spirit a notch by creating an outdoor ice skate rink which will be free for the public to enjoy. The project consists of between 180-200 high end upscale apartments including clubhouse and planned greenspaces. Amenities include hardy board exterior with drive in garages below many of the units as well as high end interior finishes such as granite counter tops and tiled bathrooms. The Emmert Group has several other apartment complexes throughout the state of Indiana that they have built and managed.
When Brad Emmert asked why he chose ANCON Construction to partner with he replied, “We believe Ancon’s past experience with projects similar to ours, will help us succeed in bringing an upscale luxury apartment development to the City of Goshen.”
Ryan Kring, Vice President of Business Development, commented, “We are thrilled to partner with the Emmert Group on this project. We built a relationship based on experience and trust which gave Brad and his team the confidence knowing he has a solid partner in northern Indiana.” Kring also added, “We see a bright future for the Lincolnway corridor in Goshen with many opportunities for service, retail and upscale residential development similar to the planned Emmert Project.” Building layouts, concepts and naming are still in final design stage. Construction will begin in March 2017 with an estimated project value of 16-18 million dollars.
Aluminum Trailer Company (ATC) and Architect/General Contractor Ancon Construction are excited to announce a massive building project on Tomahawk Trail in Nappanee. The project consists of a 107,500 sqft new building on a new developed site. The building will feature a 15,000 sqft office with the remaining space dedicated to the assembly lines of “World Class, Precision Built” trailer fabrication and assembly.
Project Manager Doug VonGunten and Field Superintendent Lloyd Yoder will oversee the project which is estimated to be complete in July 2017. Ancon Designer Matthew VanSoest described the building’s architecture as “modern industrial” with an abundance of natural daylight and vistas looking over the natural landscape to the east. The interior design will feature burnished concrete floors, ceiling clouds, exposed structures, and the use of reclaimed wood pallets. The exterior will features a rhythm of sleek galvalume and darker grey metal panels with accents of wood and split face block.
ATC owner Steve Brenneman comments: “We are trying to do something unique with this new facility. We are thinking thru material flow and people flow first. We have spent quite a bit of time thinking thru not only how our systems will function within this facility today but also how they will function in the future as we continue to learn. With the help of the Ancon folks we will be able to create a flexible learning space that our employees will love.”
ATC’s products include custom trailers, utility, mobile command, cargo, mobile marketing/office, vending/concession, and other trailer lines. For more information on the ATC Difference and company information – visit www.aluminumtrailer.com
Representatives from Ancon Construction recently attended an awards gala in Indianapolis to celebrate some of the best construction projects within the industry for 2015-2016. The Associated Builders and Contractors of Indiana/Kentucky annually recognize outstanding projects built by Merit Shop Contractors. The recognition builds awareness in our local communities of the quality of work produced by Merit Shop Contractors and their team members. Furthermore, it represents the quality of the companies represented by the Associated Builders and Contractors of Indiana/Kentucky. The award recipients are determined based on the project and how the team members excelled in innovation, quality, communication, and safety. The projects nominated are presented to a panel of judges that represent a cross-section of the construction industry. Awards of Excellence (first place) and Awards of Honor (second place) are determined by the judges. ANCON President John Place, Senior Vice President Gary Wetzel, Project Manager Cullen Stanger, and Designer Matthew VanSoest attended the event.
The following are the Ancon projects that were awarded:
South Bend Cubs Performance Center
2016 Award of Excellence
Pre-engineered Metal Building Category
Architect: Jones Petrie Rafinski (JPR)
General Contractor: Ancon Construction
The South Bend Cubs Performance Center is a 15,000 sqft pre-engineered building which contains six batting cage bays, team conditioning room, concessions, and an upper viewing lounge which overlooks both the batting cages and the baseball stadium below. The owner of the South Bend Cubs and Partner of the Chicago Cubs placed a million dollar bet that Ancon would complete the project within 5 months, in the dead of winter, and be ready for opening day in early April. The project was completed with one day to spare! The performance center played an important role and was one of the deciding factors of the affiliation agreement between the Chicago Cubs and the South Bend Cubs. This regional destination is simultaneously utilized for training by the minor league and rehabbing of the major league team and is open to community members and area athletes looking to accelerate their individual and team performance. Play ball!

Taper Lock Credit Union (TLCU) Financial represents the new age of banking design. The 2 story 5,000 sqft building follows the new “dialogue banking” concept where teller lines and bullet proof barriers are replaced with interactive, welcoming transaction pods. Programmatic spaces include a 2 story lobby business center, private consultation offices, staff offices, spacious conference room, and a three stall drive-thru transaction canopy. The building is designed around the idea of a taper lock. TLCU Financial began as a credit union primarily for local industry workers of a nearby factory which manufactured taper lock bearings. We took the idea of a taper lock’s revolving motion and designed the building shell using differing angles which allows the building footprint to rotate on the site. Construction crews might not have been pleased with the lack of 90 degree angles, but we the unique look of the building helps promote their brand and keeps TLCU top of mind. ANCON is honored to accept these two awards for excellence in the construction industry. To learn more about our award winning design & construction team checkout our homepage!
